Emerging Technology Impact on Accounting:
The course addresses three critical objectives; 1. The impact and role of the digital environment upon future business models. Specifically, the changing business landscape and the potential development of new models of value creation as impacting accounting systems, 2. The convergence of multiple technologies and its role and impact on the changing business environment within the accounting sphere. This includes but is not limited to Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Big Data, Robotics, Predictive Modeling and Data Analytics, and 3. The intersection of hindsight and foresight within the accounting landscape. Building upon the strengths of the accounting process with respect to historical transaction record keeping, we will attempt to re-imagine the role and need for real-time predictive decision making within a new accounting landscape.
